In which Eleanor is trapped again.

It’s been just horrible here. Wye suspended. The last two weeks have been day after day of violence and clashes. The totals aren’t like the 1996 tunnel riots, which I wasn’t here for, but for me it is every bit as ugly. There’s a smell of blood in the air which has me spooked.

Driving back home last night from Ramallah I was caught between the stone throwers and the police shooting opposite Qalandia, while the traffic backed up. I couldn’t move. It was really rather frightening.
